name:: morrigan greene gender:: female age:: sixteen date of birth:: february fourteenth, two thousand place of birth:: colorado, u.s.a.
house:: thunderbird wand:: twelve inches, willow with a coral core, rigid year:: sixth year blood type:: pureblood
appearance:: morrigan has dark hair which reaches past her ribcage, and it's thick and often hard to fully maintain. she'll usually just brush it in the morning and leave it down for the rest of the day, not caring if it flew in her face a multitude of times. her skin is pale, thankfully free of the acne and skin problems many her age go through, already of having her fair share of them in her earlier years. she has light eyes which are often a little striking against her dark hair and pale skin. She typically wears little makeup, though black eyeliner has become one of her necessities. Her "look" could be called goth when not in school, though she just rolls her eyes at the people who suggest such a thing, even though it's true.
personality:: morrigan is curious and intelligent, though some of her brightness diminished after the accident she caused at the end of last year. she seeks knowledge, though not just in her classes, but from the world around her. she longs to explore, learn more about the world around her. even though she was raised with magic surrounding her, it still fascinates her beyond compare, though she uses it with caution and care, being afraid to fully exploit her potential, even though it would be best for her to do so since she truly is a talented witch. she finds it a little difficult to easily make friends and could be considered an outcast, though doesn't mind that much, just having a couple friends she'll occasionally talk to is good enough for her.
history:: morrigan was born in a small town with mostly wizards in colorado, her parents both being magical. she was always raised with magic in her life, it surrounding her, and she loved it. she longed to get her wand from a young age, and waiting for her letter to ilvermorny was hard. her mother was a horned serpent while her father was a wampus, and she eagerly waited to discover her own house, what ilvermorny would bring her. she showed signs of magic from a young age like most magical children did, and every small thing excited her, made a new sort of spark be lit within her. though still, magic sometimes strained her, even though she didn’t use it. she found herself living in a shadow, the shadow of her parents, both fantastic wizards. people she didn’t know would come up to her while they were shopping, asking her if she was going to turn out just like her mother had, or do as much as her father. it worried her, though she kept on with her life, not trying to care too much about the reputation she had to live up to.
she went to ilvermorny at age eleven like other magical american children did, and the sight of the castle and everything within was grander than she had ever imagined. she went into her sorting eager, all nervous feelings being replaced with excitement and adrenaline. it went better than she even thought, and instead of being chosen by one house, she was chosen by two. it was something rare, but possible. she had definitely proved herself, at least. she had the choice of either becoming a horned serpent or a thunderbird, and the decision was difficult at first. she could become a horned serpent, the house of scholars. and she could stay in her mother's shadow, a horned serpent just like her. or she could be a thunderbird, an adventurer. the thought of that house excited her more, made her curious, so she chose it. she didn't care if her mother would question her as to why she didn't choose her house, no, she was going to enjoy being a thunderbird. so she did.
she soon made friends in her house, and enjoyed her classes, too. her life was good, great even. there was nothing too bad, mostly good, and her time at the school was near perfect. however, in her fifth year, she had an accident. a major one. it didn't affect morrigan physically as much as emotionally. she was casually lounging around on the courtyard, and decided she was going to playfully jinx, do something harmless, though the spell ended up going towards a building, and her laughing messed up the incantation. It destroyed a large part of a building, one with people inside. everyone was safe, though many got injuries. everything was easily fixed with magic, though it scarred her, showed her the real harm magic could do. she was powerful when it came to magic, though it wasn't always for good.
from then on, she was a little less bright, and the glass became half empty instead of full. smiles appeared, though rarely. as much as people would ask her, "what's wrong?" or tell her she was fine, that incident was months ago and everyone is fine, she couldn't settle herself. she often found herself asking one question: was magic really for the better, when just a simple mishap could do so much?
This is the basic guide on all things related to Ilvermorny, and will often be updated, so make sure to keep an eye on this thread.

THE SCHOOL
Ilvermorny was founded over six centuries later than Hogwarts in 1620, and the school started small though magically expanded to accommodate more people. The school officially became a boarding school in the 18th century, and it's reputation slowly grew, soon becoming as widely known as Hogwarts and the other schools of magic. It currently teaches many students, since after all, many are magical in America, and Ilvermorny is considered to be one of the greatest magical educational establishments in the world.

SORTING AND WANDS
Sorting is a little different at Ilvermorny. The first year students step into the center of the entrance hall with four statues, each representing a house, facing them. When a student steps between them, the statues will react if they want the student in the house while older students watch from a balcony above. Occasionally, though the situation is rare, more than one statues will choose a student, and in that case, the student has the liberty to choose which house they rather be in. After sorting is finished, they are chosen by their wand, which they get at school unlike in Europe.

TIME AND SETTING
Ilvermorny is located in a remote part of Massachusetts, and is at the peak of a mountain, disguised as a cloud of mist to non magical folks. This roleplay is set in modern times, for example, today when this is being written, it is August 12, 2016, and so is it that date in the roleplay.
This site rating varies from thread to allow roleplayers to write their characters as they wish, though we still have a few rules.
1. In OOC chat, keep cursing to a minimum. Those threads are for everyone to see, so please, don't have any extremely bad language.
2. Please be aware of triggers. If you have a trigger that you'd like to add to the list, please send a private message to a staff member. We want to make sure everyone feels comfortable.
3. Although our ratings vary, please, do not write any sexually explicit scenes. We don't need that. Any posts with extreme or descriptive content will be deleted. Kissing, hugging, cuddling, or implying that it happened the night before is fine, though nothing beyond that.
3. Attacking or harassing of members is my no means tolerated, and staff has records of everyone's messages, so we'll know. Please, be nice. Attacking in roleplay is okay, but never in real life.
4. Discrimination between any people, group of people, or anyone is not tolerated. That's saying it simply enough, and it's not allowed by any means here.
5. No Mary Sues ( perfect characters without any flaws ) in roleplay. It's easier to do than you think, so staff will be on the lookout for them while approving characters, and it's no fun to roleplay with them.
6. No Godmodding ( controlling other's characters ). It's no fun, and simply not fair, to roleplay with someone who is making their character all powerful and your character helpless, or even writing what your character does, so please, don't do it.
THREAD RATINGS
When writing your thread, in the title, please mark it either E, T, or M. Those ratings will be further explained below, and posting a disclaimer for possible triggers would also be wanted.
E - Everyone can read this. No language, really, and violence is kept to a minimum.
T - Some language (nothing too extreme that wouldn't be bleeped on television), light talk of alcohol or drugs, or violence. Nothing terrible, but it's present.
M - Language is heavy, and violence is more than present. Heavy talk of alcohol, drugs, and such is present, and possible triggers can be found in this thread ( again, please mark them so readers can beware ). Even if only one of these topics is present in your thread, it still should be marked Mature.
Here, Ilvermorny teachers may be claimed. However, your character you wish to use as a teacher must first be made, so that way we don't have any important teacher positions being claimed but the characters never actually being made. Once your character is made, you may request their position as a teacher. Not all subjects are covered in this list and we just have the most important ones, though once all these positions are filled, we'll add more. Some subjects unique to Ilvermorny may possibly be added in the future, as well. To request the teaching position for your already approved character, fill out the simple form: Character Name ( with a link to their approved profile ) - Teaching Subject
Teaching Positions
Headmistress - Clara Rosewood Deputy Headmistress - Terry Beckwith
Head of Horned Serpent - Aphrodite Crewe Head of Wampus - Terry Beckwith Head of Thunderbird - Head of Pukwudgie - Aiden Jones

Really, talk about anything, as random as it may be. Everything that relates to this rp, relates to nothing on this site, and beyond can take place here. Just stay PG13, of course.
Do you feel like we could improve on this site in any way? You probably do. We take any and all suggestions, as wild or small they may be, and staff will get to answering them as soon as possible, and even work on incorporating them into the site.
Have any questions about the site, or just need help finding your way around? Any of the staff members are happy to help, so just post your questions here and they'll be answered as soon as possible.
Since we will all be roleplaying together, I think it's a good idea to do proper introductions. Just a name and a few things about you, your character, or really anything is great.
Hi, I'm Alex. I live in the United States, so I thought that Ilvermorny was great (finally, a US school!), and my character Morrigan is yet to truly be developed though needs anything - friends, enemies, possibly a lover, who knows.
The template is incredibly simple, though if there are any questions about it, just send a private message to a staff member. Remember, this is all about your character, not you.
Name: Gender: Age: Date of Birth: Place of Birth:
House: Wand: Year: ( if a graduate, simply erase this ) Blood Type: ( purebloods are pretty rare, so please refrain from making them and stick to halfbloods and muggleborns for your first character. your character can still have two magical parents, though if one is a halfblood or muggleborn, that would make them a halfblood, too. if you make your character a pureblood, you'll have to edit them, unless staff has given you special approval. if you're making a second, third, or fourth character and have talked to a staff member, then you may make one. )
Profession: ( this is for gradutes and teachers only )
Appearance: 100+ words
Personality: 100+ words
History: 100+ words. Explain from childhood to today.
On Ilvermorny RPG, we aren't too strict on your word count, but you do need to write a minimum of 100 words per post. We aim to improve your writing skills while having fun, and writing one liner posts won't help you. 100 words doesn't take more than a few minutes and isn't long at all, and we ask you to aim for higher. Soon, we'll be creating a monetary system to motivate players to write more and then be able to purchase in character rewards, so keep your eye out for that, too. 100 words really isn't very long, and and most posts should be longer and give more to reply to than simply 100 words. That's just the bare minimum. We currently don't have a word counter, though you can use this word counter to count your words before posting, or just lovelyume that your amount is okay. Don't worry about it, and just write as much as you wish, and if a staff member sees you breaking this rule, then they'll simply ask you to write more.
Also, we have a monetary system ( a way for you to earn money simply by posting and being active ). On your profile, you should see a money symbol for Dragots, the American wizard currency, and beside that, a total of how many Dragots you have. For each normal post you make, you get 10, and for each roleplaying post, you get 20. For posting your character, you get 50. All the Dragots you earn will be automatically added to your total whenever you post. Eventually, we'll give out awards for fantastic roleplaying posts, members of the month, and such, so those are more ways to earn Dragots. You will be able to use your Dragots to purchase different perks from your character, such as special abilities, statuses, custom titles, become a special species, and many other fun things. To use your Dragots, go to the shop icon in the bottom left corner of your screen. There, you can make your current character either a vampire or werewolf, or your second character a mermaid, part-veela, elf, or fairy. You can also join the Fellowship of the Eagle, a society of wizards working for the better of the wizarding world. More abilities and perks are coming soon, too, so be on the lookout!
Before posting any avatars or signatures with your character's face, please claim the actor/actress/singer/model or anyone else whom is playing your character. Your face claim must look reasonable for your character's age - no forty year olds playing fifteen year olds. Your face claims may not be under thirteen for legal reasons. Request your character's face with this form:
Face Claim Name - Character Name
Taken Faces Alycia Debnam-Carey - Annabeth Evans Britt Robertson - Arya Volkov Daisy Ridley - Hazel Padgett Elizabeth Olsen - Morrigan Greene Fernanda Ly - Hera Merricks Hayley Atwell - Jacky Morgan Hayley Williams - Emilija Draganov Jared Gilmore - Charlie Royer Jennifer Lawrence - Artemis Downe Kristen Stewart - Aoife McCoy Lee Pace - Aiden Jones Logan Lerman - Poseidon Sheridan Natalie Dormer - Clara Rosewood Nina Dobrev - Tatiana Moreno Rachel McAdams - Terry Beckwith
To make your character's account, put your username as your character's name. For example, if your character is John Smith, then put it as JohnSmith when typing it when you register. The site won't allow spaces in usernames, but once your account is created, you can change your display name to 'John Smith' by editing your profile. Accounts older than 24 hours without character names as their display names will be deleted. If your display name is any canon Harry Potter character, your account will also be deleted.
Once you have your account made, head over to face claims and claim whatever face you'd like your character to have. Once you've done that, you can add photos or gifs to your signature and avatar. Before creating your character, make sure to read up on information about Ilvermorny so your character is accurate to the roleplay. Since there isn't an extreme amount of information available on Ilvermorny yet, the staff has created some of their own details. If you're planning on making a teacher, make sure the class you want them to teach is open to claim, and once the teacher is created, you can claim the subject the teach. You also have the possibility of creating a graduate, though currently, they must be from America, and Ilvermorny alumni.
Then, you go and get the template for your character, more details will be located within that thread. It's fairly simple, and shouldn't take too long to fill out. You create your character, put them in the right forum for character creation, and once they are moved to the approved forum, you can roleplay around Ilvermorny and the rest of the wizarding world. If you're active, multiple characters are fine and encouraged, though you need a separate account for each character which does, in fact, require multiple emails. We hope you join Ilvermorny RPG, and welcome! If you have any questions, simply send a private message to a staff member.
