There were many things that Arya loved about Ilvermory; her friends, the castle, learning cool new spells, and the amazing food. There was one thing Arya did not like when she was at Ilvermorny: homework. Unfortunately, you can't get through school without doing your homework, and doing poorly in any classes meant that her parents would have to lecture her. She was just not a homework type of person, more of a "do by example" kind. She could perfectly demonstrate how to turn her cat into a water goblet (and back), but the whole "explain the purpose of this and the pros and cons" yada yada... She sat in the Dining Hall, trying to figure out her potions homework, praying for some kind of a distraction, or even some cake.

Homework was a common occurrence around Ilvermorny, even though Annabeth found it absolutely unnecessary - the students spent hours immersed in it, stressing over it, even though they spent hours and hours sitting in classes. She hated sitting still for that long, having to listen to professors drone on for hours, occasionally attacking a student for the spell they did wrong ( she most often thought of Professor Crewe, the charms professor who assigned so much work that she couldn't bare ). Unfortunately, Annabeth was a master procrastinator, and had put off all her work until the last second, so it all piled on top of her. It seemed like she would never get out of the mess, the mess of a procrastinating seventh year, though she had to. She had to do well in her last year.
Unlike most students, she didn't find the best place to study the library, nor the common room. No, she liked the dining hall, with distractions surrounding her. Even with the distractions, she somehow seemed to work better with chaos surrounding her. It almost made her feel at home. One distraction she welcomed particularly was Arya, her best friend, even though she was both in another year and a different house. She seemed to be immersed in homework too, though Annabeth didn't care, so rushed over to her, "Arya! Hey!" she peered down at the paper on the table near her friend. "Ah, potions?"

Arya stared at her homework for who knows how long. She read the same sentence over and over, probably about 20 times but she honestly had no idea what it said. She started to think about what would happen if she flunked out of potions class; lose privileges at home, flunk exams, probably work at the ministry of magic.. as a janitor. That might come true if you don't concentrate! She thought to herself. That's when she heard her best friend, Annabeth's, voice. She turned toward it to see her walking right up to her. "Hey girl!" she said, excited to finally have that distraction she was begging for. "Yea, it's potions and I'm not understanding a thing!" She moved her bag from the spot next to her and shoved it under the table so that Annabeth could sit next to her.
"Please tell me you remember this crap" Arya basically begged. Annabeth was a great help to her since she had already taken all of the classes she had last year. She didn't want to think about how her 7th year would go without her help. "I've read this dumb sentence a bazillion times and I still have absolutely no clue!"
