Hazel was excited, incredibly excited. She was going back to Ilvermorny and to all of her friends! It was honestly one of the best things she could think of, and she was bouncing with excitement at the thought of being with everyone she liked again. Although, she was still rather sad that she wasn’t going to get to see her parents as often, since the next break would be Thanksgiving, although it was only two months away. However, her brother was going with her, which was very exciting. Even though he had already been attending Ilvermorny, there were still little things that she wanted to tell him, give all the advice she could. Their sister had graduated last year, and while it was amazing to see her go off and achieve things, Hazel was still a little upset that the three of them wouldn’t be together anymore. They were the three Padgett siblings, the ones who were just a little odd in their neighborhood, but people liking them all the same. They were Muggleborns, but even so, there was always something a little different about their family, which very much explained the magic in them.
But there was no time for sadness, not when there was another year of learning and fun times ahead of her. Hazel had indulged in her self pity for a bit, as she figured that would be best for her, since it was no use to ignore her feelings. She had been in a bit of a cloudy mood until they reached the station, then she started to perk up when she saw other students walking to the platform. She and her brother had kissed their parents goodbye, and gave their sister the biggest hug possible, then ran in between the platforms, going to deposit their luggage and taking their owls with them (Hazel had named her owl Daisy). The two of them decided to get a compartment together, chatting about everything, wondering what their classes would be like that year, if they would get to visit the village which was a bit like American Hogshead (that’s what some students with British parents said anyways). Hazel liked how she and her brother had a good relationship, with each other, their sister. She knew other people weren’t as lucky to have siblings such as she, but she thanked her lucky stars that she did.
They kept talking for a while longer, before his friends stopped by and invited her brother to come and sit with them. Hazel ushered him to go, saying it was a time to be with friends and to have as much fun as he could. She sat back, picking a Kindle out of her bag (the school had embraced technology long ago, and she was grateful or that), reading one of the many books she had downloaded onto there. She had two collections, one labeled “regular” and the other “magical”, which were quite self explanatory. Coming from a Muggleborn family, Hazel wanted to learn as much as she could about the world she was living in. She could hear the door open and she turned around, smiling as brightly as possible. It was none other than her girlfriend, Annabeth, and immediately all thoughts of her reading was pushed aside. She flung herself at Annabeth, wrapping her arms around her, and kissing her on the cheek. "I've been wondering where you were. I thought I was going to have to spend this whole train ride by myself!" Hazel exclaimed then sitting down, patting the cushion next to her. Just as she hoped, everything was off better than she imagined.
