Artemis was ready to leave behind her home life and go back to school. While she liked her family, and found her two brothers decent, all she wanted was to be back someplace she didn’t stick out, someplace she could just actually let loose and have fun. She didn’t really care for the No-Maj community as one would think. Sure, one of her parents were a No-Maj, but that was about all that Artemis could handle. She was losing patience with them, especially since she was always at risk for being found out. Found out for what exactly?
The fact that not only was she a witch, but a fairy, something that had sprung about and appeared when she was going through puberty, right around the time she had come to Ilvermorny. Apparently, it had run through the family, and one of the Downe’s ancestors long ago was a fairy, something they had only known of due to the family journals left behind. It was a hard thing not only to find out that one was a witch, but also a fairy. Something she and her had to learn the hard way (and there were some No-Majs who had to have Memory Charms done on them), was that being a fairy wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Artemis had learned that her wings could sprout out at any time, whenever she was in a state of high emotion and for her, that was usually anger. There were other qualities that came with it, and she noticed some of her features had become more, well, “fairy like”. Her face had slimmed a bit, her features becoming more sharp, and she had this certain look in her eyes that suggested she was up to something, although her mother said that had always been there. Artemis had found a place she had fit in, with other magical folk, but then there was just something else to separate her from the rest.
Her wings could be folded and hidden underneath her clothes, and no one would know any better. It just felt so damn uncomfortable at times, as if one of her limbs had its movement constricted. At least now that she was back here at the train station, she could remove her jacket, and let her wings be free. It was hilarious though, how people thought fairies were meant to be small. Well, Artemis did have that ability to shrink her size, but it wasn’t something she did often, only when she needed a way out of a situation. People always gave her weird looks, but that was something she was used to. If she didn’t particularly like it, she would snap at that person and set them straight.
But as soon as she had told her parents and brothers goodbye, she snugged off her jacket, feeling a bit more at ease now that she could breathe and extend her wings. She left her things at the carriage, and headed inside, folding her wings so she could go through the door and find a compartment that was at the back of the train, and she could flutter around in her mini size if she damn well pleased. The door opened and Artemis looked, scowling a bit, saying, "Don't you think you could find someplace else to go? I don't want to be pestered by the likes of you."
