A begrudging friendship (Aphrodite)

Jacky was back stateside, back from her time in her hometown of Kensington. She had spent the past few months among her family and friends, traveling around on the weekends, Apparating to different parts of Western Europe. While she was Muggleborn, she didn't exactly prefer their mode of transportation, finding them much too slow and aggravating for her liking. With all the time spent flying in a plane, or driving for miles and miles, one could travel around and go someplace else, find a new place to explore. She loved that feeling, that feeling of freedom, of not being held down by anything. There she could go, letting her heart guide her all over the globe. She had her ambassador duties, along with things for the Order, but the activity had died down during the summer months, although there seemed to be some anti-Muggle sentiment popping up again. While Jacky did spend much of her time in Massachusetts, she was first and foremost an English citizen (her accent was still there and wasn’t going anywhere), her loyalties lying with the British people, if it ever really came to that.

However, the summer had proved to be fruitful and she had done her regularly duties, well what was needed, and attended Order meetings. Other times, she was visiting historical landmarks, and meeting up with her friends at various pubs in England. Many of them had asked her questions regarding Ilvermorny, since a good number of them had never ever been there, and she answered, although she kept some things secret, just to play with them.

She had visited her friends who were more spread out, spending time with them, before she would have to return. The one thing she did love about the American schedule was the idea of Thanksgiving. They didn’t have that holiday back in Britain see, so Jacky loved it even more, since she could relax and chuckle as her friends and family still had to work. But it also provided her another opportunity to get to try to new things, to prove to people that she was worth much more than they knew. Her parents favored her brother a bit more, Jacky knew that, she wasn’t dumb. She could see the difference with how they treated him and her. It was the damn twenty-first century, but people around her still seemed to favour men over women, instead of being equal between the two. With this, Jacky decided that she'd pave her own way, that she'd make it in the world. She had gotten the highest marks from Hogwarts, gotten multiple job offers, and had immediately joined the Order of the Phoenix. While a Ministry job was good pay and honourable, Jacky didn't particularly like working for the government. Instead, she wanted to help with young minds, inspiring them to do well in their lives.

As ambassador, she had gotten to Ilvermorny a few days early, to help prepare for the start of term. Jacky liked her coworkers, and found that the American students were quite funny actually, as their sense of humour was more brash and out there. It was definitely a different change from back home but not unwelcome. Jacky had already prepared what she needed, and headed over to Aphrodite's office, one of the more, ah, grumpy professors here? It was funny that Jacky would make some weird sort of friendship with someone she wasn't sure she even really liked, but that was life wasn't it? "So, got any special ways to start off the term? Or do you just plan on sitting here with me, avoiding people?" Jacky asked, as she helped herself to some food Aphrodite had laying on the table. Jacky was making it in the world, and doing it all on her own.
